Travel
Within Wendake, the Huron Nation, there is a great network of trails linking
the tribes and all the villages together. Paths which are
on ridges, where vegetation is not so thick, criss-cross
throughout Wendake and lead to nearby areas of the Petun
and Neutral Nations. Birch bark canoes are used to travel
long distances. They are large (seven metres long and one
metre wide) and carry four or five men and a large load
(90 kilograms) of cargo. During the winter we use snowshoes,
toboggans and sleighs in the snow.
