Feasts are part of the Wendat religion with Singing Feasts the largest and most popular. A man will hold a Singing Feast if he wishes to gain status. Thanksgiving Feasts are held to celebrate good fortune. Curing Feasts are carried out by Curing Societies who deal with both physical and mental disorders. Each society has a unique mask or symbol. Farewell feasts are given by a dying person when death is near. Feasts are announced by the crier, and the more elderly the crier the more important the event.
